Secretary CA & DD Mr Khalid Hanif said that he would do every possible effort to restore the old name of Federal Government Colleges of ICT which now are known as Islamabad Model Colleges.
He was speaking on the occasion of an Investiture Ceremony held at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College F-7/2 on Wednesday. The FG colleges were denied of their identity under the programme of uniformity in the institutions of Islamabad on the same day (Novemebr 18) in 2010 when the then prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani directed to change the nomenclature from F.G Colleges to Islamabad Model Colleges.
The motive behind the change of nomenclature was the uniformity of education, not the mere change in names. But the teachers and students of the ex-FG Colleges are not happy with the change in the name because it has not contributed to the structural reforms.
The announcement of the Secretary CADD was welcomed and appreciated by the teachers and students because it was the long standing demand of FG Colleges teachers. Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) also has welcomed this announcement.
In response to the demand of FGCTA for early meeting of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), secretary CADD directed the Director General FDE to prepare and send the promotion cases to CADD at the earliest. He also ensured the early meeting for time scale cases.
He congratulated the students who got the medals and praised the students for a good discipline. He also announced coming Friday as holiday for the students of F-7/2 college.
DG, FDE ,Mr Moin ud Din Ahmad Wani, representatives of FGCTA, Principals of FG colleges. A large number of students and teachers were present on the occasion.
