The Roots School System (RSS), which is actively participating in international projects and forums through student networking and global projects committed to a culture of peace, harmony, friendship and tolerance among the youth of the world, celebrated ‘World Peace Day’ to express their feelings, ideas and visions of a peaceful world by holding poster competition, poetry competition, essay competition, tableau competition and speech competition on the theme ‘Citizenship- How can we contribute to make our community better.’
Citizenship is an important trait that is best developed at a young age. Whether you are a teacher, a parent or a community youth leader, you can help kids develop citizenship skills by teaching them what it means to be a citizen. As you teach them what it means to be a citizen of the nation, also have them think about what it means to be a resident of your community and a citizen of the world. Students need to learn the importance of contributing to their school and community.
They should have compassion and show kindness towards others. They should also show humility and consider the needs of others. Serving and helping others is also of great importance. Building citizenship skills helps students feel that they can be contributors to others and can do work that benefits their community. This shows them that their lives are important now and sets a foundation for becoming active citizens in adulthood.
Rootsians depicted peace day with enlightening activities. Students were given different themes to write essays on citizenship & Peace. Students presented a magnificent tableau on theme ‘Honesty is the best policy.’ Students also made a ‘Rule book’ with the help of their teachers. Teachers gave presentations to educate students about ‘empathy, honesty, sharing and caring.
Students made head gears with the help of their art teachers. Students were wearing head gears and holding banners with written slogans like ‘Follow the rules to become a good citizen’, ‘spread love, give flower and make life beautiful like rainbow’, ‘grow happiness, love and peace’, ‘live together in peace’, ‘let there be peace in the world’, ‘join hands to be a volunteer’, ‘let all love peace with warm’, ‘we all smile in one language’, ‘respect the rights of others’, ‘friendship promotes peace.’
Mrs. Riffat Mushtaq, founder director of RSS, highlighted the worth and importance of peace by saying, “On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to teach our children the value of tolerance and mutual respect. Let us invest in the schools and teachers that will build a fair and inclusive world that embraces diversity. Let us fight for peace and defend it with all our might.”
In the end, all students signed a pledge to be a good citizen & to make their country a peaceful land.
