National Education Foundation (NEF) has announced scholarships for year 2015 to facilitate children of in service retired and deceased federal government teachers.
Hundreds of teachers their children and students who are eligible for scholarships have rushed to NEF office to submit their applications for the purpose as last date for scholarship 2015 application is August 31 (Monday).
As per eligibility criteria the scholarship can only be acquired by one children of serving federal government teachers and two children of retired and deceased teachers.
A children of federal teacher who have at least 60 percent marks is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Talking to APP NEF s Assistant Director (Accounts) Sonia Aslam said about Rs 5 million funds have been utilized for scholarships in year 2014.
She said the expenditures of scholarship for year 2015 would be finalized after selection of total eligible students. Sonia Aslam assured that the final list of successful candidates would be made purely on merit basis.
Highlighting the objectives of the initiative she said main objectives included promoting quality and gender sensitive education in territories of Federally Administered Areas. This will help promote public private partnerships in attaining basic education for all through multiple delivery systems (up to elementary and including early childhood and literacy for empowerment) with special focus on disadvantaged communities and girls.
The other vision is to promote welfare activities for teachers and educationists of Federal Government Institutions including providing scholarships and assistance to students and teachers in general and to students and widows of teachers.
