Islamabad: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has busted an inter-provincial gang of dacoits and recovered two vehicles and weapons from the five gangsters, who were nabbed after police encounter, a police spokesman said.
The SIU team received information from reliable sources about presence of a gang in an area of Islamabad, who were involved in targeting the money changer vehicles normally carrying the money and travel from Mansehra to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Following this information, Sub-Inspector Tariq Rauf, Assistant Sub-Inspector Haider Ali and others policemen rushed towards the Sangjani toll plaza Islamabad. They spotted two suspected vehicles near Sarae Madu in Tarnol Police area and chased them following which the occupants of vehicle started firing on police vain. Police also retaliated and managed to stop one of the vehicles (AUQ-485) and nabbed five persons identified as Asfandyar, alias Haji, son of Zameer Khan; Sheeren Khan, son of Masoom khan; Sultan Mehmood, son of Wali Muhammad; Abdul Kareem, son of Abdul Rasheed, and Shauqat Khan, son of Adam Khan. Police also recovered four 30-bore pistols and ammunition from their possession, while occupant of other vehicle (LZS-6608) escaped in the jungle area by taking the benefit of darkness.
After initial investigation from the nabbed accused, the absconders have been described as Aagha, Shabran, Aman Noor alias Damany, and Abdul Majeed alias Sheena Bajoori. Police team has been constituted to ensure their arrest.
