Along with short story my preferred genre in literature has been reportages which is more suitable to give direct expression regarding current political and social issues. The technique of reportages is almost the same as we use in short story.
These thoughts were expressed by famous novelist and short story writer Masood Mufti while addressing a gathering arranged by writers’ House of Pakistan Academy of Letters in its premises in his honor under the title “Meet the Writer”.
Various prominent writers from twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were present on this occasion. They include Kishwar Naheed, Fateh Muhammad Malik, Uxi Mufti, Hameed Shahid, Dr. Najeeba Arif, Ahmad Javed, Dr Munazza Yaqub, Neelofer Iqbal, Zafer Bakhtavari, Qamar Raza Shahzad and many others who talked about the personality and work of Masood Mufti and also put questions to know more about him.
Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik said that Masood Mufti is fond of Pakistani history and wrote a lot about it out of his love for his country. Uxi Mufti commented that mufti’s writings are important historical documents for Pakistani people.
Kishwar Naheed said that his specialty is East Pakistan and the debacle of Dhaka is an event which he himself experienced.
Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Dr Muhammad Qasim Boghio informed the participants that this is a fortnightly session initiated by PAL in which senior writers will be invited to come and talk about their life and work.
