Despite the fasting month of Ramazan almost all the Metro Bus stations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Monday were crowded, with facilities packed to their full capacity.
People in general, government employees in particular, prefer the air-conditioned facility to reach their destinations saving themselves from the harsh weather.
Sabir Hussain, who just alighted from the bus at PIMS station, told APP that he travelled daily on the Metro Bus, but he saw no let-up in the rush of passengers.
Travelling in a Metro Bus not only saved the people from scorching heat, but also cost them less as compared to using personal transport or competitive public transport, he added.
Another passenger Muhammad Aslam said that the Metro Bus was a government's gift for the people of twin cities.
"I used to wait at wagon stops for hours in the hot weather conditions, but the Metro Bus has changed the culture as everyone can now travel between the twin cities in just 45 minutes with comfort,” he remarked. Zahid Majeed, another daily traveller, said that the service had made the life easy for the travellers.
Rabia, a student, said prior to Metro service women used to face difficulties in the public transport. Now they could travel in a secure and comfortable environment.
