PIEAS retains its QS ranking

Islamabad: The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) being run under the aegis of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has once again brought laurels for the country by retaining its position as No.1 University of Pakistan in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking, 2015. PIEAS has been ranked this position among top Asian universities in the QS ranking of 2015, said Syed Yusuf Raza, Member (Power), PAEC. He was addressing an ‘Open House’ organised by PIEAS at its campus in Nilore.
In the event, different intellectuals, industry professional and students participated in large numbers. The event comprised of the project displays of BS Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students providing them with an opportunity of on spot interviews with potential employers besides showing their creativity. The faculty of PIEAS was also available for further healthy cooperation and discussion.
PIEAS Rector Dr. Muhammad Aslam briefed the audience about the achievements of the university saying that PIEAS has maintained the prestige of being among the leading universities of Pakistan as per national and international ranking.
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization joined hands in order to make this event successful. The creative work of the students impressed all visitors which included an especially designed Robot to streamline supply of medicines to different wards of the hospitals. This Robot is equipped with multitasking capabilities of providing medical supplies on emergency basis.
Other creative projects of the students included ‘Water Treatment Plant,’ ‘Optimal Hybrid Energy System,’ ‘Shell ECO car designs,’ ‘Kalman Filter for Brain Imaging Device,’ ‘Distributed Generation Power Grid,’ ‘Self-balancing Bicycle,’ ‘Quadcopter,’ ‘3 KV Power Supply for Radiation Detector,’ ‘Belt Driven Mobile Robot’ and ‘Abnormal Cardiac Beat Detector.’
The visitors took keen interest in the projects on display and appreciated the creative efforts of the PIEAS graduates.
