Islamabad: Despite the start of the summer season, Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been seeing rainy weekends for some time.
And the coming weekend, too, will be no different as the Met Office has forecast showers for today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday).
“Rains coupled with strong winds and thunders are likely to happen in the country’s upper parts, including Islamabad; Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujarnwala division in Punjab; Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Mardan divisions in Khyber Pakhutnkhwa; and scattered places in Fata, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, on Saturday (May 23) and Sunday (May 24),” Met Office official Mohammad Farooq told ‘The News’ on Friday.
The official, however, said hot and dry weather was expected elsewhere in the country on the weekend. He said the coming wet spell would be caused by a fresh western disturbance in upper parts of the country, which was likely to persist until Monday morning.
