Islamabad:Representatives of professors and lecturers of the nationwide government colleges met Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Baleegh-ur-Rahman here on Tuesday and apprised him of their problems.
The minister assured them of early and effective resolution of the problems.
During the meeting, members of the All Pakistan Professors and Lecturers Association raised different issues confronting them including retirement policy, upgradation of the posts of college teachers, increase in income tax rebate, increase in retirement age to 65 years, professional allowance for college teachers, reservation of admission seats for the children of teachers, allocation of plots on retirement, and merger of adhoc reliefs in basic pay.
Baleegh-ur-Rahman said the nation couldn’t progress without giving respect to its teachers. He said his ministry would make every effort to ensure the early yet effective resolution of the teachers’ problems.
The meeting was attended by the federal education and professional training ministry’s joint secretary and relevant officials.
