Ms. Zainab Abbas, a student of Roots International School (RIS), has been chosen as country chief editor for the regional ‘PASCH’ online newspaper of South Asia, a project of Goethe Institute.
In 2008, Goethe Institute started its ‘PASCH’ project and RIS is one of those schools, which initiated the project from the first day of its launch in Pakistan.
As a ‘PASCH’ partner school, students participate in the youth camps and student forums at regional and international levels at different destinations around the world. The ‘PASCH’ partner schools also participate in various projects that are shared by schools all over the world.
The South Asian region is planning to start its own regional newspaper by and for the German students in their ‘PASCH’ schools. Zainab Abbas, a student of Roots International School, has been chosen from among the 16 participants from German radio workshop conducted in Lahore last month. These participants have been nominated by ‘PASCH’ schools to come and learn how to make podcasts with radio expert Mr. Werner Nowitzki from Germany.
Participants of this workshop were given the task to write an article on their favourite personality, just to see how well their language skills in general and their German writing and journalistic skills in particular. Nowitzki, as an expert, also took in consideration how responsible, engaged and how dedicated these editors were. He has given his expert opinion on each participant after he watched them work during the radio workshop.
Zainab Abbas from Roots International School, Islamabad, has finally been selected as country chief editor for the regional ‘PASCH’ online newspaper of South Asia. She will be soon visiting India and then Germany for training.
Naurin Zaki, ‘PASCH’ coordinator, Goethe Institute, visited RIS Wellington Campus to congratulate her and appreciate her on her success.
