Confucius Institute shifted to new building at NUML

RIS students present colourful cultural show

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) celebrated Cultural Day to mark the opening of Confucius Institute in a new building on its premises here on Monday, says a press release.
The event was attended by dignitaries from China.
A cultural show was organised as part of the opening ceremony of Confucius Institute at NUML. The event covered many themes from Chinese culture as well as Pakistani culture.
NUML Rector Major General (r) Masood Hassan, HI (M), and Director General Brigadier Azam Jamal welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of Confucius Institute that would bring the two countries closer. The institute would make the people of China and Pakistan better understand each other. It is indispensable for both brotherly countries to understand each other’s culture and should increase people-to-people contacts.
The Chinese delegation highlighted the importance of the institute and said “The visit to NUML of our delegation aims to seize the precious opportunity that President Xi Jinping, the general secretary of the Communist Party, will soon visit Pakistan in order to promote substantive cooperation between Xinjiang Normal University and NUML and to enhance the level of cooperation in culture exchange and education between Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Pakistan in the strategic framework of ‘One Belt and One Road’ which refers to the ‘Silk Road Economic Belt’ and the ‘21st Century Maritime Silk Road’ and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor proposed by the central government.
Our correspondent adds: In the cultural show, the students of Roots International School (RIS) presented the richness of Chinese and Pakistani cultures as well as message of peace, love and harmony. The students performed a spectacular and enthusiastic dance in vibrant, eye-catching costume. They were applauded by the audience.
The purpose of the celebrations was to express solidarity with all Chinese nationals who are serving Pakistan in different capacities and convey to them a message that they should not feel alone as Pakistan is their home and they are our family.
