Package for management of university funds finalised

Islamabad First-ever conference of universities’ treasures held here on Monday adopted a comprehensive package of recommendations for better management of funds and the staff capacity-building, in light of new directions by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It was decided that the package will be sent to HEC for further action.

First-ever conference of universities’ treasures held here on Monday adopted a comprehensive package of recommendations for better management of funds and the staff capacity-building, in light of new directions by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
It was decided that the package will be sent to HEC for further action. The conference was organised by
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). It was attended by the representatives of Islamabad-based universities- NUML, IIU, QAU, Comsat
and ARID (Rawalpindi), AIOU Treasurer Saleman Saleem presided over the
conference.
The conference discussed matters of mutual interests, including catering the fund managements/ gap of
inflows and out flows due to introduction new compensations schemes by government for government employees and introduction of new SROs/revision of rates etc.
The participants thanked AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Shahid Siddiqui for his support in making the conference successful. It was decided that the conference will take place on regular basis to take stock of the new developments in the financial matters. Treasurers of other universities will also be invited in next meeting.
A delegation of treasurers will soon meet chairman HEC to discuss the common issues. The conference was addressed by Tufail Khalil, treasurer of NUML, Khurshid Alam, director finance of IIU, Zia Akhtar, treasurer of QAU, Muhammad Azam, additional treasurer of Comsat and Syeda Irum Umer, treasurer of Arid & Agriculture.
In his concluding remarks, Suelman Saleem expressed his profound gratitude to the participants for sharing their views and practices of their universities.
The conference was the result of the encouragement provided by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, he added.
