LCCI president urges govt to facilitate housing and construction industry by lowering down taxes

President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Sheikh Arshad has said that the construction is the mother of more than 40 industries and drive the economic activities of any country.
The government should maximum facilitate the housing and construction industry by lowering down number of duties and taxes from the raw material used and government surcharges levied on the housing sector, he said at the concluding ceremony of the two-day Dream Home Expo-2015 organised by Jang Media Group here on Wednesday evening at Faletti's Hotel.
Thousands of families, students of universities, architects, vocational training institutes, industry professionals and others visited the two-day Expo and largely appreciated the efforts of the Jang Media Group for gathering all industry of housing under one roof.
The LCCI President said that the Chamber with the consultation of all the stakeholders would take up the issue of high duties and taxes on the housing sector. He said that the shelter was basic need of life after food and cloth and it was duty of the government to provide housing to every citizen. He said that everyone dreamed for his own home and dreaming for own home was not a bad thing, rather praise-worthy so that the person could make efforts to make his dream home.
He demanded the government to reduce the cost of the services in housing sector so that it could bring down the cost of housing. He said that the rates of iron had reduced after the reduction in petroleum products rates and electricity tariff. However, the prices of bricks, cement and other raw material used in construction of a house are not coming down. He said that the government should also focus on it as well. He opined that the rates of the bricks could be brought down by waiving the tax on it and same was the case with other raw materials.
The president LCCI appreciated the efforts of the Jang Media Group for successfully arranging the Dream Home Expo 2015. He said that the Jang Media Group efforts would help in generating the economic activities in the country and the Dream Home Expo would give boost to the housing sector of Pakistan. He said that such expo should be organised on regular basis across the country for public awareness. These efforts play vital role in the economic development of Pakistan, he believed.
Earlier, Sheikh Arshad took round of the Expo hall and discussed the matters related to construction activities with the stall holders. In the end, he distributed souvenirs among the participants and the organisers of the Dream Home Expo 2015.
The visitors also appreciated the Jang Media Group efforts for creation of awareness and consultancy for the general public regarding the purchase of land or house of their dream through Dream Home Expo. They enjoyed food at food courts, children enjoyed puppet show and entertainment games there. The representatives of the companies who established their stalls provided consultancy and guideline to the visitors about their future land purchase and investment. The stall holders of big builders, real estate, home appliances, paint, and furniture brands told the visitors that how they can amicably utilise their budget. They vowed to participate in future Expo of Jang Media Group too.
The participants of the Expo were Izhar Monnoo Developers, Athar Marketing Network, Eden Housing Ltd, Paradise Holdings, Bahria Town, Start Marketing, Fast Marketing, Green Land Housing, Orient Group of Companies, Super Asia, SA Garden, Royal Residencia, NM estate, Athar Associates, Ali Saqlain Real Estate & Builders, Haroon Estate, LDA City, Brighto Paints, Hapilac Paints, Master City Gujranwala, Honesty Estate, Boss Furniture, Hayat Lahore, Sheranwala Heights, Sonica-Chawla Group, Venus, G M Cable, City Estate, Alfa Estate, Value Group, Royal Estate and others. It is pertinent to mention here that the Dream Home Expo 2015 was opened by the Punjab Minister for Excise & Taxation Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman.
