LAHORE
Light drizzle has dropped down the mercury further in the provincial capital as a westerly wave has affected the upper parts of the country and likely to persist for the next 24 hours.
Met officials said that rain-thunderstorm with snowfall is expected over the hills, scattered places in upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions), Rawalpindi division, Islamabad, Upper FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Gujranwala and Lahore divisions.
They said that mainly dry weather is expected over most of the country. Cold weather conditions would prevail in earthquake-affected areas. Rain was also recorded in other cities such as Murree, Dir, Pattan, Islamabad (Saidpur, Golra, ZP, Bokra), Garhi Dupatta, Malamjabba, Balakot, Kalam, Lower Dir, Rawalakot, Saidu Sharif, Parachinar, Kakul, Muzaffarabad, Mirkhani, Drosh, Chitral, Peshawar, Kotli, Astore, Gujrat, Mangla, Rawalpindi (Chaklala, Shamsabad), Jhelum, MB Din, Mianwali, Chakwal, Gupis, Risalpur and Sialkot.
Met Office informed that according to the prevailing climatic trend, November will be wetter than normal due to the Southward track of westerly waves, the ongoing spell of rain/snow will continue for couple of days lowering the temperatures by 02 to 03°C.
Afterwards, three spells of rain/snow are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), North Punjab, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) & Kashmir and two spells in Northeast Balochistan during this month. They said the current spell is likely to produce scattered rain with snowfall over the hills of Upper KP, FATA, North Punjab, Islamabad, GB and Kashmir during next 24 hours.
They added that the second spell of light intensity is expected at isolated places of upper KP, North Punjab, Islamabad, GB, and Kashmir during second week of this month. Two spells are predicted over the same areas during second fortnight of the current month, they concluded.
