LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Thursday sought more arguments on a petition filed by a citizen challenging allotment of a piece of land to cricket academy which earlier was leased out to him.
DCO Faisalabad Noorul Ameen Mengal turned up and told the court that memorandum of understanding had been signed between the district administration and cricket academy to establish cricket ground and a cricket academy in the city.
DCO pointed out that contract of the petitioner had expired and now another group had occupied the land. Saeed Ajmal, former cricketer, also appeared in the court and submitted that academy was being established to train local children for cricket development in Faisalabad.
He requested the court to order the local administration to retrieve the possession of the land from the illegal occupants.
After hearing arguments of the respondents, Justice Ibad-ur-Rehman Lodhi sought more arguments from the parties and adjourned further hearing till November 17.
Qaisar Mushtaq, a local citizen of Faisalabad, had filed the petition and stated that he had leasing rights of the land but it had been allocated to cricket academy.
