Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said Pakistan comprises four federating units and their equal development is essential for national progress and prosperity.
He said there was a need for collective efforts for national progress and development.
He said Punjab was playing an active role for the promotion of national solidarity by including all units of the country in its educational programmes. He said people of all provinces and regions of Pakistan will have to strive for elimination of poverty, unemployment and darkness for achieving the goal of economic development and prosperity. He was talking to a delegation of journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which met him on Wednesday.
Journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa paid tributes to the CM for the measures taken for the development of the province and said that they have personally seen progress made by the province during their visit to Lahore.
They said that Shehbaz Sharif works round the clock and they are deeply impressed with his welfare activities.
French envoy: The delegates participating in an international conference on climatic changes-2015 led by Ambassador of France Ms Martine Dorance met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and discussed the issues relating to climatic changes at international level, their impact and strategy for coping with this challenge.
He said climatic changes at international level have become very important issues and there was a need to work jointly in this regard.
He said due to climatic changes, large scale destruction was caused in Punjab due to flood in 2010 and districts of south Punjab were badly affected.
He said according to an estimate, the flood of 2010 caused a loss of ten billion dollars to the economy whereas flood in 2014 also resulted in massive devastations in central Punjab.
French Ambassador Ms Martine Dorance thanked the CM and his government for extending support for holding the conference.
She said the idea of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for coping with the climatic changes was impressive.
Delegates of international conference paid tributes to the CM and said the Punjab government led by the chief minister worked speedily and transparently for the rehabilitation and financial assistance to the flood affectees of 2010 and 2014.
