LAHORE
PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will make his maiden address directly to the people of Punjab on Saturday (today) at the people’s convention at Bilawal House Lahore, during his first visit to Lahore after becoming party chairperson.
The convention will be largely attended by workers, leaders, supporters and members of sister organisations including, youth, students, labor and women organisations.
Almost all top leaders of Punjab are expected to participate in the convention which will, however, miss party’s co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.
Strict security measures have been taken in and around Bilawal House as large number of police personnel, both uniformed and plain clothed were deployed. The entry into the venue would be monitored both by police and PPP security volunteers, most of whom have arrived from Sindh.
During his speech, Bilawal is expected to boost the morale of the party workers by blasting against alleged victimisation by the ruling party, especially the arrests of party leaders in Sindh. He is expected to target the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leadership in a blunt manner, following the line of his father Asif Ali Zardari.
