Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani got upset over the absence of the secretary concerned during a question hour session pertaining to the Food Department on Thursday.
During the session, when the deputy speaker was told that the secretary concerned was absent, he immediately called off the question hour session in anger.
“This is totally unacceptable, CM has directed all the officials to ensure their presence during the question hour session, how could he go to Multan then” said Gorchani while expressing displeasure when he was told that the Secretary Food was on a visit to Multan on CM’s directives. The chair, ordering inquiry over the absence of the official ordered cancellation of the question hour session due to which questions couldn’t be answered.
This is noteworthy that a couple of months ago, the Deputy Speaker had also expressed serious dismay over the absence of ministers concerned during the question hour session and had also called off the session then.
Meanwhile, 11 ordinances were laid in Punjab Assembly and were referred to the Standing Committees. The ordinances were laid by Punjab Minister Ch Sher Ali Khan.
Moreover, the PA members vehemently condemned the statement of Former High Commissioner Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan who, in an interview to foreign media stated that decision declaring Ahmedis as non Muslims was a mistake.
At the outset of the PA session, Wahid Gul Khan, a PML-N member, on a point of order showed strong resentment against this statement and stated Wajid Shams ul Hassan was acting as an agent of Qadiyanis. He said this statement had hurt the sentiments of Muslims in the entire world and called for strict action against him. PPP Parliamentary leader Qazi Ahmed Saeed on a point of order stated that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto declared Qadiyanis as non Muslims and now it was mandatory on the present government to take action against this person who had issued such statement. MPAs including Maulana Ilyas Chinioti, Mian Aslam Iqbal and others in a media talk also demanded strict action against Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan besides calling the government to withdraw all perks, privileges given to him as a diplomat.
