Punjab University Oriental College’s Department of Urdu Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran has participated in an international conference on fine arts and society at Imperial College, London. Over 300 scholars from all over the world participated in the academic event and Dr Kamran was the only scholar who represented Pakistan. In his research paper, Dr Kamran described link between poetry and imagination in the era of internet. He also shed light on poetry of Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and paintings of Abdur Rehman Chughtai and Sadqeen. The organizers and participants lauded Dr Kamran’s research paper and termed it interesting, meaningful and thought-provoking. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated Dr Kamran on representing Pakistan and PU at Imperial College, London.
PhDs: Punjab University (PU) has awarded two PhD degrees to the scholars including Nadia Asif d/o Muhammad Asif in the subject of Chemistry after the approval of her thesis titled “Synthesis of Chromone Analogues” and Hafiza Sidra Ilyas d/o Muhammad Ilyas in the subject of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics after the approval of her thesis titled “Role of Glutathione in Determining Metal Stress in Yeasts”.
Meanwhile, PU Examinations Department has announced the results of DMRT Part-II, Supplementary 2012, and Annual 2013. Detailed results are available on PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
workshop: A three-day training workshop Phase-2 “Indigenous On-Campus Training (IOT)” for administrative officers (2nd group) concluded at the University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences (UVAS) here on Wednesday. Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the concluding session and distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop organised by (FLSBM) of the UVAS in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad. Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha delivered a lecture on good governance in higher education institutions. He spoke about various aspects of good governance, formal and informal governance, its key elements and advantages.
