Pakistan Muslim League-Q President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that procedure has been explained in the Constitution regarding statement against the army and tendering resignations from the assemblies.
It has also been mentioned in the Constitution that if need be the Supreme Court can interpret and explain it as per Constitution.
According to a press release issued here Monday, the PML-Q leader said that for its interpretation the government should have approached the Supreme Court but the government was not going to do that because the government itself was involved in the whole drama. Under the current circumstances, Supreme Court should take suo motu notice and interpret it so that ambiguity prevailing among the people could end.
Ch Shujaat Hussain said the government functionaries were indulging in statement mongering against the army and if this was encouraged further then other elements would also start doing this work. The government functionaries are indulging in spreading hatred against the army to encourage the anti-State elements, he said, adding that keeping in view the Constitution, the Supreme Court by taking suo motu notice should interpret the provision in the Constitution about statement mongering against the army and the procedure about resignation from the parliament to end this issue forever.
