A 50-year-old woman was crushed to death by a truck in Sabzazar police limits on Monday.
Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The victim was identified as Khalida. She was on her way along with her family members on a bike. As they reached near Liaqat Chowk, a truck hit their bike. As a result, they fell down and received injuries. They were rushed to hospital where Khalida succumbed to injuries. The driver fled the scene.
Meanwhile, a woman and three children received injuries during a traffic accident near Kharak drain. The victims were shifted to hospital by Rescue 1122 where their condition was stated to be out of danger.
BODY FOUND: A 32-year-old man was recovered dead from Shahdra Town police limits. Police after being informed reached the scene, collected evidence and removed the body to morgue.
WARDENS’ LEAVE CANCELLED: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has cancelled the leaves of traffic wardens till Eid to maintain the flow of traffic, especially during the last Ashra of Ramazan.
He banned transfer posting of cops for the same period. He directed the wardens to manage traffic at and around markets, shopping malls and public places. The CTO ordered wardens to take action against wrong parking.
DSPs: The newly promoted DSPs have proved themselves that they are professional, hard-working and fit for promotion by discharging their new responsibilities more devotedly and dispelled this impression that they are corrupt and incapable.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing the recently promoted DSPs at the Central Police Office Lahore. Addl. IGP, Establishment Punjab, Naseem-uz-Zaman, DIG, Establishment-I, Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DIG, Headquarters, Farooq Mazhar, AIG, Discipline, Dr. Inam Waheed and PSO to IGP Shahzad Asif were also present.
The IGP told the officers that all 64 promotions among 145 were made on 100% merit by observing and evaluating the performance of these officers.
He also said that while issuing their posting orders same policy was adopted and no favour was accepted during the process.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera directed the newly promoted officers to restore the respect of the uniform, which could be only possible by dint of their conduct.
He advised them to regularly monitor the police stations in their respective circles and try to discourage the registration of fake FIRs, arrest of innocent people, particularly in the cases of murder, and arrests must be made on solid proofs and evidences.
He stressed the officers that they should not protect the corrupt and inefficient subordinates.
They should also encourage the professional and dedicated subordinates. He also directed the officers that they should not accept any pressure in the course of justice.
He also instructed them that last Ashra of Ramzan-ul-Mubarik was approaching fast so they should prepare themselves and arrange foolproof security measures at mosques, especially Imam Bargahs, Churches and other holly places of minorities.
accidents: At least 651 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which six lives were lost and 549 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 241 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
According to a data, about 312 drivers, 36 underage drivers, 133 pedestrians and 351 passengers were among victims of these road traffic accidents.
The statistics show 158 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 196 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 68 RTAs in Faisalabad with 79 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 40 RTAs and 43 victims.
Details further show that total 796 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 634 males and 162 females, while the age group of the victims showed that 126 were under the 18 years of age, 513 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 157 victims were reported above 40 years.
According to the data, 487 motorbikes, 103 auto rickshaws, 75 motorcars, 33 vans, six passenger buses, 23 trucks and 72 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
