FIA Assistant Director Muhammad Aftab Butt has arrested a banker for misappropriating Rs 25 million from a Kanganpur bank.
According to sources, the banker, whose name was not mentioned by the FIA, misappropriated over Rs 25 million from almost 40 bank accounts. According to FIA, the banker was doing parallel banking and pocketing money.
Another team of FIA detected power theft in a marriage hall and a shopping mall. According to FIA sources, a raid was conducted by Assistant Director FIA Khalid Anees, Assistant Director Kashif Mustafa and others as the plazas were required NOCs from Nepra for extension of load to provide electricity to its inhabitants, but the plazas got sanctioned illegal connection with the help of Wapda employees.
An FIR was registered against the consumer and the Lesco officials.
Man dies: A 45-year-old man, who was found in an unconscious condition in Township police limits two days back, died at the Jinnah Hospital on Thursday.
Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy.
A passerby spotted the victim lying unconscious in Township and informed the police. Police reached the place and admitted the victim to the Jinnah Hospital. He was under treatment there and passed away on Thursday.
SI Zulfiqar told the media that the victim was found in an unconscious condition near the Rescue 1122 centre, Khokhar Chowk. They admitted him to the hospital, he added. He said he did not look like a drug-addict. The reason of death will be ascertained after autopsy.
Police were searching for the family of the deceased.
suicide: A 28-year-old man committed suicide due to some unknown reasons in the Shadbagh police limits on Thursday.
Police removed the dead body to morgue for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Farooq, a resident of Chah Meeran. He worked as a scrap-dealer. The victim had some dispute with his family on some minor issue. He exchanged some harsh words with them. He was so depressed that he went into his house, came out with a weapon and shot himself dead.
Police collected forensic evidences and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses. Police have handed over the dead body to his family for burial after completing the legal formalities.

Police had registered an FIR No. 661/15 against the accused. Incharge Investigation Israr Shah told the media that they were working on the case and would soon find out the accused.
accidents: At least 525 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which six lives were lost and 436 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts.
However, some 175 minor injured were provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to data provided by the PMC, 225 drivers, 15 underage drivers, 85 pedestrians and 307 passengers were among injured of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 114 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 103 persons placing the Provincial Capital at the top of the list followed by 50 RTAs in Faisalabad with 61 victims and Multan at third position with 35 RTAs and 48 victims.
The details further show that total 617 persons were affected by the road traffic crashes including 485 males and 132 females, while the age group of the affected persons show that 88 were under 18 years of age, 381 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 148 injured people were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 426 motorbikes, 78 auto rickshaws, 29 motorcars, 28 vans, 14 passenger buses, 14 trucks and 52 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
