Speakers at a ceremony held to distribute laptops among the seminary students Thursday stressed that the seminaries were providing students with quality religious and contemporary education.
Punjab Auqaf Minister Mian Ata Maneka was the chief guest at the ceremony held at Jamia Ashrafia as the first phase of distributing laptops among the outstanding students on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Other guests included former law minister Rana Sanaullah, secretary general of Wafaqul Madaris Arabia Qari Hanif Jallundhari, Maulana Musharraf Ali Thanvi, Maulana Fazle Raheem Ashrafi, Auqaf Secretary Shaheryar Sultan and Auqaf DG Tahir Raza Bukhari.
Ata Maneka said the distribution of laptops among the seminary students amounted to acknowledge their service to the religion, nation and humanity. Rana Sanaullah said the award to Wafaqul Madaris and Qari Hanif Jallundhari by the Saudi Government and Rabita Alam Islami for producing 63,000 Hafiz-e-Quran students in a year was an honour for the nation as well. He said the importance and position of seminaries in Islam and Pakistan could not be denied or belittled since their history was as old as that of Islam. He said foolish policies of former governments had earned bad name for seminaries despite that 99 per cent of them were functioning without any blemish.
