LAHORE
Homeopath Dr. Ghulam Yaseen treats all blood disorders. On last Sunday of every month, he sets up a free medical camp that has completed five years now and has 650 registered patients with blood-related disorders. The number of patients is increasing fast — the resources aren’t. By now four patients of blood cancer, among whom one declared terminally ill by doctors, have been cured completely with his treatment.
Dr. Yaseen’s extraordinary work started in 2008 when he was blessed with a son who was diagnosed with Pure Red Cell Aplesia. Like all parents, he took his child to Children’s Hospital but his condition only deteriorated as days passed. He brought his son home after few days and took upon himself to treat the baby. Till then he had not dealt with any such case. “For seven years I studied hard and took up teaching in Pakistan Homeopathic Medical College Lahore. I wanted to see my child fully cured of the disease. With the time his condition started improving and he has been cured to a great extent, Masha Allah,” he says.
“Eight months after coming from hospital, a woman whose child was hospitalised with ours, called my wife to find out about blood transfusion and on knowing that my son’s health was improving from my treatment, requested for treatment of her child as well. Since then, patients have been pouring in.
We also send medicines by post to many in other cities,” says Dr. Ghulam Yaseen who has been providing free medicines to patients for the last five years from the platform of Sehar Welfare Foundation — an association of Dr. Yaseen and his friends.
On January 31, 2010, the first free medical camp was held. In 2012, he presented his first case of cancer cure, then a case of subdural hygroma in which cerebral spinal fluid leaks out in the skull. “Till then people wouldn’t believe that cancer could be cured by homeopathy,” he says.
Recently, a patient of Myeloid Leukemia, who was declared terminally ill by doctors in Social Security Hospital in the city, has been cured completely. The patient and the person who paid for his treatment — his employer in this case, spoke of the miraculous cure at a conference organised by The Society of Homeopaths Pakistan in December last.
The free medical camp set up every month is full of Thalessemic children and those with different factor syndromes and everyone The News talked to said they feel marked improvement. Three siblings are getting medicines for free for Factor 9 — a rare syndrome. The News even came across a rarer case of Factor 13 syndrome here.
“There have been brilliant results in cases of cerebral palsy. A Mongol baby has almost become normal. I have treated breast cancer and patients have been cured,” he says.
Pregnant women whom doctors had advised abortion when they already had a thalassemic child, took homeopathic medicines and had a perfectly normal baby who are normal to this day.
Homeopathy treats patient as an individual so there is no specialised medicine. There are different medicines for different individuals depending on individual cases and there are thousands of homeopathic medicines.
Healing starts with disappearance of symptoms and when all the symptoms disappear, the patient has recovered. Homeopathy aims at complete restoration of health.
It treats human as a whole. Homeopathic medicines are tested on human beings. Healthy people of different ages, different sexes, are given material dose and whatever changes occur, are recorded. The symptoms they produce are noted exactly in the words of the person who has taken the medicine — all the feelings of the patient are important.
“Homeopathy treats psychiatry best because the provings on humans are expressed through feelings,” he says, adding how a homeopath received case of an old woman who had liver cancer and who had turned to homeopathy after going through allopathic treatment.
“The allopaths were treating her at cell-level or disease level. The homeopath found out she was grief-stricken and gave her medicine keeping that in view. She was cured. That is the height of homeopathy.”
There are 12 salts in the human body. All diseases are a result of imbalance. Homeopathy balances the salts in our body. “It is an equaliser,” he explains.
“Research is being carried out mostly in India, England, the USA and Germany. We too need a research unit in Pakistan. In India homeopathy is going parallel with allopathy,” says the doctor.
Here, Dr. Ghulam Yaseen and his friends, mostly small traders, are struggling to keep the good work going for the last five years.
But it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to continue like this with the number of patients growing fast. “I have delivered lectures all over Pakistan and always free of cost.
We have been giving medicines to patients for five days at a stretch in South Punjab areas of Hasilpur, Chishtian, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Fort Abbas and Munshi Ottar,” he says.
Manpower and funds are urgently needed. Abdul Wahid, father of patient Muhammad Adnan, 3yrs, who comes here from Nankana district, requests the chief minister to spend 10 percent of what the government is spending on polio, on thalessemic patients.
Many children have gone way ahead in the creative process. “A child from AJK who came on a wheelchair the first time, came to us walking on his feet after 30 days,” says one of the two homeopaths Dr. Qibtia, who assist Dr. Ghulam Yaseen in case taking.
Homeopathic treatment of blood disorders costs far less as compared to the conventional (allopathic) treatment. Traders like Kamran of United Books (Urdu Bazaar), another Kamran of Azam Cloth Market, another bookseller Attique-Ur-Rehman, are instrumental in making the amazing work possible.
People, who have contributed to the effort of Dr. Ghulam Yaseen, are Dr. Sajjad rehman, Muhammad Shakil Sheikh, Ijaz hussain, Amir Iqbal and Dr. Nadeemur Rehman. Young men work voluntarily to make the free medical camp a success. The spirit with which all these people work is touching— almost seem out of this world. Their work deserves government’s attention. A hospital with all facilities for patients with blood disorders, can make a huge difference.
