JUSTICE Shams Mahmood Mirza of the Lahore High Court Friday sought report about verification of the affected families of Joseph Colony.
A deputy attorney general said the DCO had been assigned duty to provide compensation to 266 affectees. He said the process of verification of affectees was underway and it would be completed soon. Judge directed to submit report until February 13 in this regard.
Zaman Masih and dozens of other petitioners submitted that 30 out of 190 affected families were still waiting for compensation announced by then President as the government had announced Rs500,000 for each affected family. He said the government delayed the payment.
He requested to direct the federal government to give them the announced compensation.
Earlier, the state counsel had said that finance ministry had not released the compensation money to ministry of religious affairs so far.
He had said the compensation would be distributed among the verified affected families as soon as the funds released.
