CHIEF Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal has directed all the District Coordination Officers (DCOs) to ensure the success of tree plantation campaign to be started in the province from February 02, 2015.
He said the Forest Department would provide plants to the Health and Education Departments free of cost for making tree plantation campaign successful.
He said the target of plantation of 12 million plants had been fixed for the tree plantation campaign in Punjab this year and officers concerned should discharge their responsibilities in this regard. He further directed that the stock of nurseries of the Forest Department in all the districts be certified.
The chief secretary further directed that flower exhibitions should be arranged in the province for promoting public awareness regarding the importance of plants and flowers.
He said the interaction of the Parks and Horticulture Authority and Forest Department should be improved and special attention be paid to capacity-building of the newly set up parks and horticulture authorities in other cities besides Lahore.
He said the departments concerned should work with mutual collaboration for tree plantation campaign.
