A woman was killed by four robbers in her house in Sherakot on Sunday.
The woman was identified as Sumaira Bibi, wife of Rafique of Sherwala Park, Sherakot. Police said that four robbers broke into the house and took her hostage at gunpoint. The robbers started subjecting her to severe torture when she refused to lead them the place where she had kept money. As a result she received injuries and died on the spot. The robbers took away Rs 200,000. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s mother Kausar Bibi.
Meanwhile, robbers looted valuables worth Rs 700,000 from the house of Ali Raza in Sanda, valuables worth Rs 300,000 from the house of Imran in Mughalpura, and valuables worth Rs 190,000 from the house of Manzoor in Defence A.
Bikes were stolen in Gawalmandi, Iqbal Town, Moochi gate, Hunjarwal, Sanda and Shafiqabad. Cars were stolen in Gulshan Iqbal, Mozang, and Ravi Road.
Biker dies: A 23-year-old youth died after the motorcycle he was riding on rammed into a footpath on the Ring Road on Sunday. Ibrahim Qureshi, who hailed from Gulberg, met with the accident while he was on his way along with his friends on heavy bikes. Police said when they reached the spot after getting information, his friends had already shifted him to a nearby private hospital where he yielded to his injuries. Police said the accident had taken place due to excessive speed. Police handed over the body to family. He was his parents’ only son.
TRANSFERRED: Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has issued transfer and posting orders of five police officers.

ARRESTED: Punjab Highways Police arrested 56 criminals besides providing help to 5,028 travellers during the first week of January. PHP recovered one stolen pick-up van, five bikes, 961 litre liquor, 900kg unhygienic meat, two rifles, two carbines, two pump actions, three pistols, and fake currency from the possession of the arrested criminals. PHP also arrested three proclaimed offenders and a court absconder.
