The NED University Teachers Association (NETA) on Monday demanded of the varsity’s administration to address the rising grievances of academicians on a priority basis.
Speaking to The News, the president of NETA, Professor Dr S M Usman Ali Shah expressed his displeasure at the sheer mismanagement of the university’s affairs, saying that the teachers’ morale was at its lowest ebb as not only a meeting of the selection board had not taken place for the last three years but also the remuneration of evening programmes had been frozen for six years.
He claimed that the deduction of group insurance was continuing without any assured coverage in case of any eventuality.
According to Secretary NETA Dr Muhammad Imran Aslam, the faculty has also been demanding from the varsity`s administration to increase the remuneration for examination invigilation, entry test, script checking but it has been observed that their requests are not taken seriously.
Aslam said that in NETA’s general body meeting held on November 20, the faculty members had decided to give the deadline of December 31 to the administration for the resolution of their issues and in case if their demands were not met, NETA would call a general body meeting to decide the future line of action.
