A tug of war is going on over the position of the financial adviser of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), whose two senior employees claim to be working in that capacity.
Interestingly, the official room of the financial adviser on the sixth floor of the Civic Centre was found locked up during a visit on Thursday.
As a result, Shoaib Waqar, who says he is working as financial adviser on the orders of KMC Administrator Sajjad Abbasi, is sitting in an office on the first floor, and Afaq Khan, who claims to be discharging the same duties on a Sindh High Court order, is working in his own assistant’s office next to his room.
The administrator has posted Waqar as financial adviser in violation of the orders of the Supreme Court, the Sindh High Court and the Election Commission Pakistan against transfers and postings.
Well-placed sources in the KMC, requesting not to named, said Khan belonged to the local government department and was no more a KMC employee.
