The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) arrested two suspects who were also involved in carrying out attacks on traffic policemen.
Senior Superintendent of Police Irfan Ali Bahadur said that after receiving a tip-off that members of a criminal group were present in Buffer Zone, a raid was conducted in Sector-16-A of the locality.
On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire. The cops returned fire and arrested Mohammad Kamran alias Rashid and Latif alias Pathan.
A motorcycle, which had been stolen from the Super Market police limits, and two TT pistols were seized after the encounter.
During the initial interrogation, the two disclosed that on the night of September 16 they along with their accomplice, Junaid alias Bubbly, opened fire on two traffic policemen when the latter confronted them near the Matric Board Office Chowrangi in North Nazimabad while they were trying to escape after committing a robbery.
When the traffic cops returned fire, Junaid was wounded and the two others fled the scene. Junaid was arrested when he was undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital.
