The Defence police station on Friday registered an FIR against a Superintendent of Police (SP) for allegedly murdering his wife; no arrests were, however, made in the case.
According to officials, a few days a go a woman Hina Jamshed wife of Mian Inamullah Jamshed was shot at in her residence and was moved to the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKU) where she died. Defence police officials, after being informed of the incident, by the hospital authorities, were unable to record the victim’s statement due to her condition.
During investigations, it was found that Hina was a resident of a house situated in Lane-III, Phase-II of DHA and was a wife of a police officer, presently serving in Balochistan.
The FIR against the husband was lodged by the police officers after none of the deceased’s relatives were interested in getting an FIR registered.
DIG South Jamil Ahmed, talking to The News, also confirmed the FIR against the SP.
He added that brothers of the woman were informed of her death, but they refused to become complainants in the case, stating they had no information regarding the offence.
The DIG said that an investigation team under the supervision of SSP Investigation (South) Faizullah Karejo was formed who was currently investigating the matter.
However, according to the husband’s initial statement, his wife was accidentally shot while he was cleaning his pistol and he took her to AKU himself. DIG Ahmed said the weapon had been confiscated, whereas investigations were underway.
