IGP wants strict security for Youm-e-Ali, Jummatul Wida

Sindh IGP Ghulam Hyder Jamali has directed his subordinates to particularly beef up security in the metropolis for the last week of Ramazan.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the police chief spoke specifically of security measures for Youm-e-Ali, which would be followed by Youm-e-Al Quds and Jummatul Wida, and called for exceptional vigilance on next Thursday and Friday.
As per the statement, no parking would be allowed on any of the processions and rally routes and steps would be taken for prompt removal of any broken down vehicles.
All routes, said the IGP, must not only be guarded by well-equipped cops but also called for deployment on high-rise buildings.
He said special measures must also be taken for the protection of the people attending special prayers on the eve of sacred nights (Taaq Raatein) during the last 10 days of the holy month.
The IGP said it would be extremely important to keep community leaders and organisers of special prayer sessions on board.
He called for strict implementation of the security plan must be ensured through efficient monitoring enhanced patrolling, snap checking and intelligence sharing at town as well as district levels.
Preparations reviewed
Korangi Administrator Quratulain Memon chaired a meeting with representatives of respective departments on arrangements for Youm-e-Ali. In a statement issued on Sunday, Memon directed the officials to provide facilities to Imambargahs and majaalisgahs in the district.
She said roads leading to the processions should be cleaned and enchroachments must be cleared off by taking immediate steps. Memon urged the district administration to maintain close coordination with the local Imambargah administrations to avoid any untoward circumstances.
