Rangers announced on Tuesday the names of the 11 Sunni Tehreek activists who were arrested earlier a day. The paramilitary force also said the arrested men were involved in target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom cases.
A Rangers spokesperson said the paramilitary force had raided the ST headquarters in Moin Plaza on the night of June 18 and arrested eleven suspects.
During interrogation, the arrested men confessed to their crimes which included target killings, extorting traders and kidnappings for ransom.
Mohammad alias Baba confessed to murdering 15 people in different parts of Karachi and his involvement in clashes with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He was wanted by police in extortion and land grabbing cases.
Mohammad Jawad Qadri alias Wajah was wanted by police in 14 target killing cases. He had earlier worked for the Uzair Baloch group and extorted million of rupees from the traders of Lyari and Singo Lane during that time.
Zubair Ali was wanted by police in 13 target killing and three attempt-to-murder cases. He was also involved in robbery, extortion and kidnapping for ransom cases. He confessed to his involvement in murders.
Mohammad Salman alias Mirchee was wanted in 11 target killing and arson and kidnapping for ransom cases.
Akram alias Karmi Kala was wanted in seven target killing and extortion cases.
Farhan alias Papa was in jail from 2008 to 2010 and after his release, he murdered six people. He was also wanted in extortion cases. He confessed to his involvement in clashes with the MQM.
Shakeel Ahmed alias Fauji confessed to killing MQM activists. In 2012, when Shahid Ghauri and Mobin Qadri were arrested, he had created a law and order situation in Orangi Town and torched vehicles.
H also told interrogators that he forcibly collected donations and hides of sacrificial animals.
Mohammad Arif alias Mashwari and Imran Saadi alias Noorani were involved in extorting money from shopkeepers and showroom owners under the pretext of zakat and fitra.
Mohammad Anwerul Alam alias Alam Qadri was also involved in extorting traders and forcibly collecting donations.
Mohammed Rizwan alias Guddu was involved in forcibly collecting donations and hides of sacrificial animals and provide illegal electricity connections. He was also nominated in the FIR of Nadeem alias Kawa’s murder. He confessed to stocking weapons for his organisation too.

90-day remand
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday granted a 90-day remand of 11 workers of the Sunni Tehreek (ST) allegedly involved in murder cases, extortions and other heinous crimes.
Produced in the court five days after they were detained in a raid at the party’s
headquarter, carried out by the Sindh Rangers, those arrested included sector in charges and other office bearers of the Sunni Tehreek.
The accused produced in the court were Rizwan alias Guddu, Arif Mansoori, Jawad Qadri, Akram alias Kala, Farhan alias Baba, Imran Saeedi alias Noori, Mehmood Alam alias Baba, Shakeel alias Fauji, Zubair Ali, Salman alias Mirchi and Noor Alam.
