A delegation of NED students received training during a visit to the Rangers Training Centre & School and the Rangers Shooting & Saddle Club on Tuesday.
The visit was arranged under a comprehensive community engagement programme which the Sindh Rangers have launched to boost public confidence and their cooperation with the law enforcement agencies.
As part of the campaign, Sector Commander Brig Khalid welcomed the delegation.
The students were briefed about the Rangers’ history, role, operations, border duties, relief and rescue operations and public service programmes.
They also visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha for paramilitary soldiers who laid down their lives while combating terrorists and criminals.
The delegation visited Rangers’ posts to interact with soldiers on duty and routine operational duties.
Then the students witnessed a demonstration of firing from different positions and a house clearance operation organised by the Anti-Terrorist Wing of the paramilitary force.
Students took keen interest in it and appreciated the professionalism of the troops in neutralising the targets. They were also given training in handling handguns as well as in safety measures followed by live firing practice.
The students’ delegation appreciated the initiative, and said the interaction had increased the level of understating about the Rangers and their efforts to bring back stability to the city.
Five suspects held
Rangers’ personnel conducted raids in Abbas Town, Liaquatabad and Qasba Colony.
During the raids, five alleged criminals, including target killers and terrorists of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Swat, were arrested, and weapons seized from them.
