A standard school safety programme with the coordination of deputy commissioners, education department, Red Crescent as well government and non-government organisations would be developed, it was decided in a meeting, presided over by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, on Friday.
The safety programme would be developed as such so as to meet all safety requirements at schools. Students as well as the school staff would be made aware of threats and would also be imparted training regarding exiting a place of an emergency.
Representatives of civil and defence departments, scouts and volunteers from non-government organisations would also be taken on board.
Sindh co-coordinator of the Red Crescent Khurram Wasim assured the participants of the organisations due role for providing safety to children.
A PC-1 would be prepared so that all schools follow similar measures to meet safety needs.
Siddiqui directed Director Planning, Development and Environment Muhammed Shakib to make efforts for early preparation of PC-1 on a priority basis.
No schools would be validated or re-registered in case of a failure to implement the safety programme. The meeting was attended by all six deputy commissioners of the city, senior police officials, representatives of education and other concerned departments as well as non-government organisations among others.
