KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Mari Petroleum Company have announced a hydrocarbon discovery in Hala Block, Sindh.
Fazl X-I well was drilled to test the hydrocarbon potential of sands of lower goru formation and has flowed 20.3mmcfd gas and 50 barrels per day of condensate.
Hala Block joint venture consists of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) with 65 percent working interest and operatorship of the Block and Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) having 35 percent working interest.
With an area of about 276.17 square kilometers, the Block straddles Sanghar and Matiari districts in Sindh.
Exploration Well Fazl X-I located in district Matiari, Sindh, was spud-in on May 29, 2015 and final depth of 4,067 meters was reached on August 12, 2015.
Based on wire line logs and drilling results, potential hydrocarbon bearing zones were identified within Lower Goru Massive Sand.
Initial testing flowed 20.26mmscfd of gas along with 50.4bbls / day condensate at 48/64" choke size, thus, confirming the presence of commercial quantities of natural gas and condensate at FazI X-1.
