QUETTA: Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (MJSF) contributed Rs 15 million to Chamalang Beneficiary Education Program (CBEP).
Ali Raza Siddiqui, Director MJSF and Imran Haleem Shaikh, EVP JS Bank presented the cheque to Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasser Khan Janjua in Quetta recently.
Chamalang Beneficiary Education Program (CBEP) is one of the largest social sector development programmes in Baluchistan, being supervised by Pakistan Army.
Commenting on the occasion, Siddiqui highlighted the role of MJSF and said the foundation has always been at the forefront of supporting such causes and always aims to reach out to the commonly unreached and deprived segments of the society.
The project, which started with an initial enrolment of 303 students of District Kohlu and Loralai in 2007, has grown appreciably to 3761 students from 23 Districts of the province. CBEP continues to contribute immensely towards delivery of quality education to children from poverty striven and backward areas of Baluchistan.
The project bears expenditure on fees of day scholars besides bearing the cost of boarding, lodging, books, uniforms and tuition fees of students in boarding schools all over the country.
Sustainability of this programme is set to accrue desired dividends as this educated youth becomes a part of the work force in the various sectors of the economy. This continuity is ensured by active participation of development institutions and donor agencies.
Maj. Gen (r) Tahir Habib Siddiqui, board member Habibullah Coastal Power Company and other senior officials were also present to mark the occasion.
