MNA’s son get 18-year imprisonment in fraud case

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad-Sargodha Division Central Special Judge Sohaib Ahmad Roomi on Saturday awarded 18 years imprisonment to Iftikhar Ansari, son of PML-N MNA Haji Akram Ansari, in a fraud case.
The court also awarded different counts of imprisonments and a collective fine of Rs 10 million to seven other accused who were on bails. The convicts had inflicted a colossal loss of millions of rupees to the government by preparing forged refund vouchers in connivance with income tax officer Anwar Naz, supervisor Muhammad Ashraf, inspector Muhammad Aslam, bank manager Faisal Latif and the bank employees, Muhammad Akram, Nadeem Ahmad and Abdur Rahim, under ‘Electricity Bills Refund Claims’ in 2009.

MoU signed to upgrade installed machinery of Wasa

FAISALABAD: Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz and JICA representative Kenji Shinoda on Saturday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for upgradation of installed machinery at Booster Pumping Station and Terminal Reservoir of the Wasa at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion.
Under the agreement, the JICA would replace the existing machinery of Booster Pumping Station and Terminal Reservoir with latest machinery, which would help boost the pumping capacity of the in-line pumping stations. Under the MoU, a new power house would also be constructed at reservoir, which would help augmentation of drinking water for the citizens with minimum consumption of electricity.
RPO VISITS HOUSE OF MARTYRED COP: RPO Muhammad Ehsan Tufail on Saturday visited the house of martyred police constable Haseeb Ahmad and expressed sympathy and solidarity with his family.
He offered fateha for Haseeb who was martyred during crossfire with terrorists at Peoples Colony a week ago. The RPO also offered condolence from Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif and IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera to the bereaved family of the constable. The RPO paid tribute to the martyred cop who sacrificed his life for the country. The RPO presented cash reward to the family members of Haseeb and assured that the police department would help the family according to the government’s policy. Later, the RPO also visited the Civil Hospital and inquired about the health of three police constables who were injured during the same crossfire. He also gave cash awards and sweet to the injured cops and praised their bravery.
