Sindh govt forms task force to examine Rangers report

KARACHI: The Sindh government has constituted a task force to examine report of Rangers submitted in the last Apex Committee meeting regarding corruption of Rs320 billion through extortion and other illegal acts in Karachi.
The task force will be headed by retired judge of the Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice (R) Ghulam Sarwar Korai and retired sessions judge Arjun Ram Talrija, while Sindh home secretary and Sindh advocate general have been nominated as its members.
The task force on Friday sent a letter to DG Rangers asking him to share details along with concrete and solid evidences of the illegal business of Rs320 billion in Karachi.The Rangers authorities have also been asked to share the details of Mominabad Police Station incident. In the said event, Rangers authorities on June 12 arrested the police constable Jan Muhammad from the premises of the police station on the charges of his alleged criminal activities. This incident has created unrest among police officers and officials and a situation of conflict has developed between the two main law enforcing agencies. The Sindh government is also annoyed over the situation.
