Government to promote health, education facilities, says Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif has vowed that the government is determined to pursue a policy for ensuring peace and prosperity of the people by overcoming multiple challenges being faced by the country. She was addressing inaugural ceremony of Al-Wadood Hospital, a welfare project of TrueWorth Foundation here on Friday.
She said the irrational criticism about the government often politically motivated didn’t bother it since people were fully aware of its hollowness. The ceremony was attended by the cabinet members, parliamentarians, members of diplomatic corps and the general public belonging to different walks of life. It was a rare gathering of distinguished and common people of the area. Maryam Nawaz who opted to speak extempore by discarding written text said that it was indeed the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to promote health and education facilities, to uplift socio-economic conditions of the masses. “Pursuant to this vision, the government has always encouraged such charitable projects,’ she reminded.
She assured residents of the area that the government would pay special attention to the provision of better health and education facilities on priority basis. Appreciating the donors for their support to the project, she said that this was primarily motivated by the universal truth “Charity begins at home”. In this context, she referred to the manifesto of the PML-N that envisaged “Seek service and be blessed.” She impressed upon the civil society and philanthropists to join hands with the government for welfare and betterment of the people.
Ms. Maryam congratulated Chairperson of the project Ms. Zahra Fatemi member National Assembly and her team for achieving this important landmark and also appreciated the hard work of TrueWorth Foundation that resulted in the construction of the hospital in rural area of the federal capital. Maryam Nawaz said that construction of the hospital would improve the provision of health services to the common people of rural Islamabad.
Addressing the ceremony, Zahra Fatemi said that TrueWorth Foundation was a non-profit, non-political organisation that was created to alleviate poverty and undertake development activities in Pakistan. She said Foundation’s latest project of Al-Wadood Hospital has been established to provide quality and affordable medical facilities to the underprivileged people of the locality. Ms. Maryam Nawaz mingled with the common residents of the area disregarding security and protocol. She had candid chat with them and inquired about their problems.
