PESHAWAR: The executive body of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Fapuasa) held a meeting at the University of Peshawar campus on Saturday and criticised the recently approved bill of amendments in the KP Universities Act 2012. The association members rejected the amendments as they said the actual stakeholders (teachers) had not been given due representation in the decision making bodies, i.e Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council. They said the criteria for the appointment of vice-chancellors are so vague that the government, utterly unable to find eligible candidates inside the country, would be forced to import them from abroad. The participants pointed out that they had been using several democratic channels to convince the government on passing such an act for universities, which would be acceptable to all the stakeholders.
