BISHAM: Gunman shot dead a man in the limits of Bisham Police Station on Thursday, official sources said. They said that Arzumand was on his way in Bisham Bazaar when Abdul Qadeer fired at him, killing him on the spot. Taking prompt action, the police arrested the accused along with the weapon used in the crime.

Abducted boy recovered, four kidnappers arrested

SIALKOT: Police recovered a 10-year-old boy and arrested four kidnappers on Thursday. A week ago, Ahmad Rafiq was playing outside his house at Pakki Kotli village in Sialkot Sadr police limits when he was kidnapped by unidentified people. The kidnappers contacted his family and demanded Rs 1 million ransom. The family immediately informed police, who started investigation. Police traced the location of the kidnappers by using modern techniques and raided a farmhouse in Muridke and recovered the abductee. Police also arrested four kidnappers, Nadeem Ahmad Mughal, Saleem Mochi, Jamil Khushi and Shafqat Bibi.

Modern checkpoint on KP-Punjab border inaugurated

BHAKKAR: District Police Officer (DPO) Agha Muhammad Yusuf Thursday inaugurated Daajal checkpoint constructed on the boundaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. On the occasion, the DPO said the checkpoint would be helpful in combating terrorism, handling heavy vehicles traffic, recovering Customs duty from vehicle owners, and in other matters. The latest Remote Search Park is being constructed at Daajal checkpoint at the cost of Rs 13 million equipped with crime fighting units and explosive scanners. He said as Bhakkar is the entrance district between the two provinces and it was necessary to construct the checkpoint for several reasons. The DPO said it would be linked with the DPO office for any prompt checking and speedy action. He said explosive scanners would also be installed in the checkpoint.

Farmers protest against

MALAKWAL: Several farmers and growers Thursday protested against the officials of Food Department over the issue of not purchasing their wheat crop. Dozens of protesters blocked traffic for four hours by parking their tractor trolleys on Motorway link road near Nawaz Sharif park and raised slogans against the officials of the department. Talking to The News, Kisan Board leaders Akram Gondal and Mian Ghulam Sarwar Chadharr alleged that the government had issued gunny bags to them but the Food Department had refused to purchase their wheat. They urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take a strict note of the situation and order the relevant authorities to purchase the wheat from every grower. Later, the farmers ended their protest when DSP Malakwal Rana Muhammad Islam negotiated with them.

Riaz of Mamdana locality suspected his sister (S) was having illicit relations with of youth of the same locality.On the day of incident, Riaz shot her dead when she was at her parents’ house. She was mother of two children.

Two shot dead in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Two persons, including a cop, were killed in two separate incidents in the district on Thursday, official sources said. They said that Nobat Khan, Izzat Khan, Irfan and Niamat Khan allegedly fired at a policeman Fawad in the limits of Tarnab Police Station, killing him on the spot. Motive behind the killing was stated to be an old enmity.Meanwhile, Saqib reported to the police that Salman, Abbas Ali and Ismail allegedly shot dead his brother Faizullah in Angar Killay in the limits of City Police Station over domestic issue. The police registered separate cases and started investigation.
