FAISALABAD: A delegation of under training officers of the 42nd Common Training Course, Civil Services Academy, Lahore, met DCO Noorul Amin Mengal in his office here on Tuesday.
During a briefing to the delegation, the DCO said that several mega development projects were near completion in Faisalabad. He said that Canal Expressway and Jhal Khanuana underpass would soon become operational and would open a new economic corridor for the industrial city. He said that the country’s largest children hospital was under construction on Jhang Road and upgradation of the existing healthcare centres would bring a revolution in the public health facilities.
Assistant Commissioner (G) Mehr Shafqatullah Mushtaq and AC Sadr Rafia Haider were also present on the eve. A day earlier, the team visited the Commissioner Office, the DHQ Hospital, the Madina Town Comprehensive School and the RPO Office.
Meanwhile, the delegation led by Civil Secretariat Additional Director Khalid Javed visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad. The team called on UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at Syndicate Room.
Speaking on the occasion, the UAF VC said that the agriculture was the backbone of economy, which was directly linked to the food security and poverty alleviation. He said that adoption of the best varieties, balanced usage of fertilizer, timely sowing of crops and soil analysis were imperative to increase the per acre yield and to ensure the food security. He said that the UAF was making all-out efforts to produce train manpower. He said that the UAF research portfolio had crossed to Rs 2 billion.
