LAHORE: A Judicial Magistrate of Model Town Courts on Thursday issued bailable arrest warrant of cricketer Umar Akmal for not appearing before the court in a case registered against him for violating traffic rules and scuffling with a traffic warden.

 

The court has already summoned twice the cricketer but he did not bother to comply with the court orders.The court had directed the authorities concerned to arrest the cricketer and produce him before the court by March 11.

 

It is pertinent to mention that Akmal is playing Asia Cup in Bangladesh. According to police, earlier, on February 1, Umar was arrested after had not stopped at a traffic signal in Lahore’s Firdous market area. Later, he had even brawled with a traffic warden. A case was also registered against him on the same day.

 

Later, police had submitted challan against him formally charging him with breaking the law. However, Umer denied the charges and contacted the court for registration of a case against the warden accusing him of stopping him illegally, torturing and extending life threats to him.
