‘Investigation on merit key to speedy justice’

From Our Correspondent

JHANG: DPO Zeeshan Asghar has asked the policemen to become a symbol of terror for criminals, but a symbol of security for innocent people.

He was addressing an open court in front of his office on Thursday. He said the SDPOs and SHOs had been fully empowered in their respective jurisdictions; therefore, the officers should never feel any hesitation while fighting against crimes. He urged the SDPOs to ensure proper coordination among the administration, the judiciary and the police. He lauded the cops’ efforts for coordination with Rescue 1122 and the district administration for rescue and rehabilitation of the flood victims.

“Owing to effective patrolling, the crime rate has reduced in the district.” He said that he believed in community policing, but never allowed influential persons to get the police involved in their business recovery and other personal issues. He said that the cases investigation should be ensured on merit to provide speedy justice to the masses.

Later talking to journalists, the DPO said that traffic police were working properly, however, visible changes regarding traffic problems could not be observed till the removal of encroachments and action against commercial buildings and plazas built without parking lots. He directed the DSP Traffic to extend liaison with the TMA and other departments concerned for repositioning the electricity pylons creating hurdles in traffic, especially in front of DCO House. He added that security had been increased at mosques, Imambargahs and other important places. The SP Investigations, the City and Sadr SDPO and SHOs were also present.
