ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has forbidden a raise in the private schools fee for the year 2015.
He has directed the Ministry of Education and Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) to implement this decision during 2015 in letter and spirit. It has been announced by the PM House on late Sunday evening.
Interestingly, the private schools suddenly enhanced their fee to the extent which wasn’t acceptable to students and their parents. It created commotion and now prime minister had to intervene. It hasn’t been made clear that the directive of the prime minister would be implemented throughout the country or it would be enforced in the federal capital alone since the CADD’s jurisdiction is confined to Islamabad and the areas under the domain of the federal government.
The premier has also directed the Ministry of Education and CADD to hold consultative meetings with all stakeholders in order to devise a unanimously-acceptable policy of fee raise in private schools.
The prime minister directed the authorities concerned to work out legislation in order to regulate the private schools to keep a check on profiteering by them. They have been asked to come with their proposals in this regard, the PM House announcement added.
