ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday urged JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to withdraw the resolution seeking de-seating of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs from the National Assembly.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman had an important meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House to sort out differences on the question of the resolution tabled by the JUI for de-seating the PTI members of the National Assembly on account of their absence from the House 40 consecutive days during their sit-in without any intimation.
The meeting couldn’t yield any positive outcome immediately and it appears that the resolution would be placed before the House for voting on Tuesday (August 4).The JUI has already mustered the support of the MQM for his resolution as a similar his resolution as the similar resolution has also been moved by the MQM.
The source told ‘The News’ that the Maulana despite explaining his position on the resolution as ‘the principled one’ sought time for further consultations with his party mates. The PM House is hopeful that the JUI leader would bring softness in his stubborn position regarding the question. The two leaders also discussed overall political situation prevailing in the country. The two have also decided to further strengthen ties of their parties for the sake of democracy and national interests.
Afghan situation also figured in their discussion while Maulana Fazal reiterated his support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It has been decided that the resolutions for asking de-seating the PTI members would be disposed of on next private member’s day on August 4. The sources said that Maulana Fazl had already conveyed the four-member committee comprising federal ministers Senator Ishaq Dar, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Professor Irfan Siddiqui about insistence of his party leaders for de-seating the PTI members but he opted to convey the same to the prime minister.
The PM House said that issue of the motion moved by JUI-F in the National Assembly for de-seating of PTI MNAs was also discussed. The prime minister requested Maulana Fazlur Rehman to review his party’s decision in the interest of stability of democratic system. The independent sources said that Maulana Fazl has told the prime minister that he would have no grudge if the resolution is voted out by the House but his position would be unchanged as PTI members ceased to be member of the House since they had tendered their resignation. The ruling given by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq rescued the PTI members.
In the meanwhile renowned columnist and writer Ataul Haq Qasmi called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House separately and discussed matters pertaining to literary activities with the prime minister. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appreciated his work and services for the cause of literature and national building.
