ISLAMABAD: The high profile attack on Afghan parliament building on Monday during the holy month of Ramazan is the handiwork of India’s intelligence-cum-terrorist sponsoring outfit ‘RAW’ since its agents could easily blame Pakistan for subverting the efforts for reconciliation between the Afghan government and Taliban on the one end while on the other, it could harm the pace of improvement of ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
A strategic expert told The News here on Monday evening on condition of anonymity that the only beneficiary of the condemnable attack would be India. The Indian agency’s presence in wide areas of Afghanistan is an open secret and it has been working hard to scuttle the efforts of normalisation between Islamabad and Kabul.
The expert is of the view that the attack that was conducted on Monday wasn’t carried out in Taliban style as the Indians were known for the way in which it had happened. The attack was unleashed when a known Pakistan’s friend Muhammad Masoom Stanikzai was being introduced to the Parliament as country’s new Defence Minister. His selection has been made after the gap of nine months as the coalition leadership of Afghanistan had to agree on the nomination.
The members of Parliament had assembled for a general meeting at which Masoom Stanikzai, the government’s nominee for defence minister, was to be introduced in order to present his plans and policies ahead of a confidence vote. The expert is of the opinion that Afghan Taliban are in the process of reconciliation dialogue with the government. Hence it could be difficult to assume that they would venture such attack.
The RAW is also opposed to such move and likewise India is opposed to the new trends prevailing in Pakistan-Afghanistan where the leadership of the two countries is determined to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the two neighbouring countries.
Both Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Pakistan Nawaz Sharif are personally heading the mission of improvement in ties wholeheartedly. The act of Monday shows the potential of RAW’s agents present in Afghanistan and their capacity to carry out such horrendous attack. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and government of Pakistan officially condemned the attack in strongest possible terms the attack without any delay. The Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq immediately called his counterpart in Afghanistan to express his solidarity with him, the strategic expert reminded.
In the meanwhile defence sources said that Pakistan and Afghanistan were in touch with each other and the security agencies of both the brotherly countries would activate their joint mechanism to reach the culprits involved in the heinous attack, the sources added.
