ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday wrote to the Election Commission of Pakistan, requesting for adjournment of hearing in a petition about alleged irregularities and violation of rules in handling of the party funds for at least two weeks.
The hearing is fixed for May 27 (today) and a day before, PTI’s lawyer has in writing urged the electoral body to adjourn hearing, citing back-pain as the reason that orthopedic surgeon had advised him bed rest and asked him not to travel. He requested for adjournment for at least two weeks.
“Yes, we have received an application from PTI’s main lawyer and a decision on whether or not to adjourn hearing for two weeks will be taken on Tuesday,” a senior ECP official said while confirming, an application had been received from the party’s lawyer.
