KAKUL: Afghan National Army Chief General Sher Muhammad Karimi on Saturday said Pakistan and Afghanistan faced a common enemy in the shape of non-state actors and they both needed close cooperation to eliminate terror in the region.
Addressing the 132nd passing-out parade at the Kakul Military Academy here, Gen. Karimi emphasised the need for close cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan to root out terror in the region.
“Our region has suffered from war for four decades, and is calling for peace which is very much attainable.
“The region faced the greatest threat from terrorists and militants who didn’t recognise any boundaries and had no religious or moral values,” said the Afghan general.
He said terrorists were the common enemy of both the brotherly neighbours and they must ensure the backing and support of their people in order to win this war against the non-state actors. He was optimistic about the ongoing strategic dialogue between the two countries, saying it will help achieve the objective of peace and stability in the region.
He said the Pakistan Army ranked among the world’s best armies and he felt proud of attending the passing-out ceremony.
Earlier, the Afghan army chief, who was the chief guest, distributed trophies and the sword of honor among the outstanding cadets
